In this so-called liberal industry, no one has the guts to come out because of “the box office”, but someone has to be the first in the firing line. Without the suffragettes a lot of women would have thought, ‘Why should we have the vote?’ And I think that the same argument exists today. People should stand up and be counted.

except that queer ppl are under zero obligation to come out, esp. as a political act and who the fuck are you to essentially guilt trip them for remaining closeted. and esp. as a straight guy. but even if you’re queer, it is not your place. there are plenty of reasons why a queer psn in showbiz would remain closeted ranging from ‘i dont feel like it’ to the fact that they dont have private lives which means if they could never come out to their friends/families without severe repercussions, THESE PEOPLE WILL FIND OUT AND SHIT WILL GO DOWN. its one thing if a queer psn in the biz decides to be a figurehead and another thing entirely for a cishet “ally” to imply theyre cowards for not doing so.
